High-altitude ceremonial Lavado cacao from a woman-led cooperative in Tecpatán, Chiapas, Mexico. The beans are washed after harvest, then dried without fermentation to retain maximum Theobromine and polyphenols. Each unit is 1/2 pound so for 1 pound, select 2 units.

Description

Suggested Serving:
56 g = one full ceremonial serving or two 28 g half servings.

For ceremonial preparation, gently warm water or plant-based milk without boiling.
Add the cacao slowly while stirring until smooth. Sweeten if desired, then blend or whisk until frothy.
Serve warm with intention.

Storage:
Keep refrigerated and protected from light. Best used within 12 months.

Easy Ceremonial Cacao Recipes

Traditional Ceremonial Cacao

Ingredients:
56 g ceremonial cacao, 1 to 1½ cups hot water or plant-based milk, optional cayenne, and optional sweetener.

Preparation:
Warm the liquid gently. Stir in the cacao until smooth.
Add any optional ingredients, then blend or whisk until frothy.
Serve warm.

Spiced Cacao Elixir

Ingredients:
56 g ceremonial cacao, 1 to 1½ cups hot water, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, fresh ginger, and optional sweetener.

Preparation:
Warm the liquid, stir in the cacao, add the spices,
then blend or whisk until smooth and frothy.

Vanilla & Rose Cacao

Ingredients:
56 g ceremonial cacao, 1 to 1½ cups hot water or plant-based milk, vanilla extract, and edible rose petals or rose water.

Preparation:
Heat the liquid gently. Stir in the cacao and vanilla,
add rose water if desired, then blend until smooth.
Garnish with rose petals.

Mint & Lavender Cacao

Ingredients:
56 g ceremonial cacao, 1 to 1½ cups hot water, fresh mint, edible lavender, and optional sweetener.

Preparation:
Infuse the herbs in hot water, then strain.
Add the cacao and whisk until smooth.
Garnish with fresh mint or lavender if desired.

For a half serving:
Use 28 g cacao and approximately ½ to ¾ cup liquid.
